The digital development does not stop at the banks either. In this country it is very difficult for the institutes to understand the new business models and to bring old systems up to date. This harbors opportunities for third-party providers to offer innovative financial services that make full use of the modern possibilities of data processing. In addition to recognizing and processing data, algorithms will in future help us understand our own consumption behavior and adapt our spending profile. The smartphone will also play a greater role in payment in the future. FinTechs, however, see themselves challenged primarily by the bureaucracy in this country. The future lies in big data and the ever better processing of this data. Wanting to reduce or prevent this flow of data cannot be part of a successful digitization strategy.
The large GAFA companies from the USA have already announced that they want to use account information systems (cf. including Spiegel-Online ). If Europe does not want to lose touch any further, we should promote and not hinder the possibilities that FinTechs offer their users in this country. You will not be able to undo developments, but you can certainly miss them.
