For many of our customers and their end customers, direct debit, especially online, is still the most popular payment method: Because it costs the least, everyone knows it and everything is processed easily and transparently. This is how it will remain in regulatory terms until further notice. Even more: Due to numerous uncertainties regarding the topic of “strong authentication”, end customers and retailers will make even greater use of direct debits in the future.
It is important, however, that end customers are given non-discriminatory access to direct debit at European level. This means that non-DE IBANs must also be accepted.
