BGH: Customer fee for expensive payment methods legal

Internet merchants may charge an additional fee for payments made using Sofortüberweisung or PayPal. The legal prohibition does not apply when switching on the expensive payment service providers. Until now, retailers have had to price in the high fees in such a way that all customers and all payment methods agree. This makes the direct debit procedure or paydirekt / giropay offered by creditPass and its partners even more attractive. For years, many merchants have been annoyed by the exorbitantly rising fees of certain payment providers. This can now simply be passed on to the customer or the customer can jointly opt for more cost-effective variants (e.g. direct debit or paydirekt / giropay). Presumably, other expensive payment methods (Klarna ?, credit cards ?, etc.) will be subject to such a surcharge in the future for the benefit of customers and retailers alike.
