This is intended on the one hand to ensure the protection of personal data within the <a title=\"Europ\u00e4ische Union\" href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Europ%C3%A4ische_Union\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;\">European Union<\/span><\/a> and on the other hand to guarantee the free movement of <a title=\"Datenverkehr\" href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Datenverkehr\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;\">data<\/span><\/a> within the <a title=\"Europ\u00e4ischer Binnenmarkt\" href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Europ%C3%A4ischer_Binnenmarkt\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;\">European internal market<\/span><\/a> . The regulation replaces <a title=\"Richtlinie 95\/46\/EG (Datenschutzrichtlinie)\" href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richtlinie_95\/46\/EG_(Datenschutzrichtlinie)\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;\">Directive 95\/46 \/ EC from 1995 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of data<\/span><\/a> .
