For devices with digital elements that a customer purchases from a dealer, an update requirement is to be introduced and the warranty strengthened. The Federal Ministry of Justice has published a draft bill with which the EU Sale of Goods Directive is to be implemented in national law. For all devices with digital elements that a consumer buys, the plan is for the retailer to be obliged to update, for example with updates or version changes (upgrades). The seller or supplier must guarantee the functionality and IT security of the devices even after they have been handed over.<\/p>\n
